The following are a words that are often used here as well as their American translation. Singapore used to be a British colony so the words they use tend to be influenced more by the British culture then the American culture. Majority are pretty common sense but hopefully they'll help you understand some of the lingo used here.

- Queue = Line (e.g. "Are you standing in the Queue?" "Queue up here!" "The Queue is so long.")
- Take Away = To go (e.g. "Can I please get this food take away")
- Football = Soccer (e.g. "Do you play Football or American Football?")
- Revision = Review/Studying (e.g. "How's the revision going?" "Here are the revision questions from last class"0
- Best of luck = Good Luck (They still use good luck as well, however "Best of Luck" is primarily used and I think it's a cute phrase)

- NUS NextBus - Shows you approx. times of the NUS buses
- Burpple or Eatigo - Similar to "Yelp" and gives discounts!
- Mobike - Smart bike sharing that allows you to ride any of the mobikes around Singapore. Requires a deposit fee. These bikes can be found in various public spaces in Singapore.
Miscellaneous
- They don't tend to have napkins in food areas or paper towels in bathrooms (Always have tissue with you!)
- They reserve their tables using tissues and random objects
- They have a type of creole language called "Singlish". You'll definitely hear most locals use it.
