In the Fall of 2017 I will be spending my semester abroad in Singapore, as a student of the National University of Singapore (NUS). As a Management Information Systems (MIS) and Finance major, I look forward to learning more about Singapore's technology and business practices. I've always been interested in learning about different cultures and values, so I look forward to immersing myself in a new country and gaining an alternate perspective on the world.
One of the reasons I decided to stay home and attend UH Manoa was to reduce the financial burden college would cause for my family. In making this decision I told myself I would do everything I could to be able to study abroad and get that "college experience". Now, with the generous gift from the Freeman Foundation, this dream can be a reality. With only a few months away from studying abroad, I'm filled with gratitude to Mr. Graeme Freeman and Mr. Alec Freeman for honoring me with the Freeman Scholarship and allowing me to study abroad. Your continuous support of students such as myself is greatly appreciated and I hope that I will one day be able to help others like how you've both helped me. I would also like to send a big thank you to Rikki Mitsunaga (OSAS) and Vinnie Burns (MIX) for their guidance and encouragement throughout this process. Thank you all so much, without your support I would not be able to experience this opportunity of a lifetime! Warmest regards, Jaclyn Agena
